About ReRun!

ReRun is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to rehabilitate, retrain, and find adoptive homes for Thoroughbred racehorses when their careers on the track are over. ReRun takes in horses from off the racetracks throughout the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast regions, and serves as the on-site aftercare program for Monmouth Park Racetrack in New Jersey. ReRun is based in New Jersey and maintains chapters in New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, as well as Kentucky.

ReRun pioneered the concept that Thoroughbred horses do not have to go to auction or slaughter when their racing days are over, but can go on to lead productive lives in second careers. ReRun matches the physical conditions and temperament of our horses with the experience and needs of prospective adopters. We have promoted the versatility of the breed by placing hundreds of ex-racehorses in adoptive homes where they have gone on to succeed in such diverse disciplines as dressage, jumpers, pleasure riding, fox hunting, and even barrel racing.

Locations

ReRun has had an office at Monmouth Park, Oceanport, since last year, and runs an outreach program there. Track management is very disturbed by horses being sold for slaughter, and is working closely with ReRun to change that trend. At the Races

Foster Farms

ReRun works with local farms to provide high-level "foster" care to horses in the program. Horses are evaluated for their nutritional, medical, and training needs and placed with foster parents accordingly. For more on our farms, browse the Foster Farms page of this website.
